Software Support
We have added functionality to Freeway so Support contracts can be sold to Resellers who in turn sell to end user customers. It can be used for generic software subscription sales.
How it works
Resellers can purchase groups of Support Packs for resale to their customers. When the Reseller sells a Support Pack, a license code is be generated. The Reseller logs into the Freeway store using their Reseller account and assigns a domain ID to the license code, creating a Licensed Domain. The Freeway store owner is sent an email and becomes aware of the new domain to provide software support for.
Example
A Hoster buys a set of Support Packs at the Freeway store. A set of License Codes are automatically generated and emailed to the Hoster, one for each Support Pack. The Hoster then sells a Support Pack to a customer, gives their customer a License Code and logs into Freeway Store to assign a domain to the License Code, locking the Support Pack to the domain. The Hoster also adds the Domain Email address for the customer. The end user customer can then contact the support provider by email stating their License code, domain and make a support request.

Are there any links between Software Pack(Product) & Support Pack(subscription) ?
Yes, a Support Pack product will have to be linked to a Support Pack Subscription.
How do the differ? How these items will work?
The Hoster will buy a set of Support Packs (The Support Pack product). This purchase creates a set of new Support Pack Subscriptions, each with an individual License Code, however, the time use for the Support Pack Subscriptions are only begun when the Hoster returns and adds a Domain to the Support Pack Subscription via their My Account page.
Should the License Code be generated at random on purchase or will a pre-defined License Code will be provided in back end?
The support pack License Codes are sequential for our record keeping. We could start with 000001.
How does the Hoster lock a Domain for his License Code?
The Hoster is only be able to update the License Code row in in the report via AJAX by clicking an Add Domain button in the row and for this to occur at any stage after the purchase of a set of Support Packs.
How is the support time decremented? How it will work?
The Call Centre Staff and Call Centre Manager have rights to view the Support Packs report and have rights to click on the number of support minutes for a domain and edit it. When editing the number field, the language displays “Update remaining support minutes.”
Call Centre Manager has rights to readjust mins remaining positively by inputing a plus “+” symbol in front of the mins value. This ensures they can add support points in the rare case where they need to fix a mistake that a Call Centre Staff person makes.
In this scenario, support staff would be logging in as Call Centre Staff.
