Events checkout improvements
These modifications have been made to the Freeway checkout process for events as a result of working on the Joomla Day in Byron Bay. Please see http://www. joomlabyronbay.com. They remove four pages from the checkout process. Here is a summary of the pages which were removed:
- Category page, optionally hidden
- Available Sessions page – optionally hidden
- Shopping Cart page – optionally hidden
- After login/user creation – return to shopping cart page – Removed
As a result, the checkout process has been reduced to 6 pages. With the upcoming One Page Checkout, it will be reduced by another three pages.
Page 1 – Event category page
Category page to be hidden for categories with only one event.
Page 2 - Event page
Option added to hide “Instructor”. “Start Date” changed to “Date” with no dropdown
Page 3 - Available Sessions page
This page is now hidden by default with an option to display it.
Page 4 - Shopping Cart Page
This page can be hidden and the option to hide it has been extended to Services/Evens/ Subscriptions.
Page 5 & 6 - User Login/Creation page

No changes made in the user creation page but this site took advantage of the ability to modify the fields displayed in the user creation process.

- Company
- Second Phone number
- Second Email address
- Referral Question in the Front End
- Newsletter
- Reservation/waitlist Newsletter
- Subscription Newsletter
Page 7 - Return to shopping cart page
This page has been removed. This was a mistake with the Freeway/Joomla extension rather than the standard Freeway checkout. It has been fixed nevertheless.
Page 8 - Checkout Payment choice
This page is maintain as is. A condensed One Page Checkout process is in planning. See here for details. A change was made to the Gift Voucher process so purchases of equal value as the Gift Voucher do not proceed to the payment gateway because the cost is zero.

This page is maintained as is.
Page 10- Checkout Success Page

The success page is shown directly afterwards or in the case of PayPal, it is directed to Paypal for the purchase and then back to the success page.
