Rules Guidelines
“There is at least one elegant solution to any real problem”
Rules
- Become informed before you post.
- Read the mail archive and documentation before you post.
- Are you posting to the correct list?
- Please use your real name - we're a friendly group list that likes to know whom we're talking!
- Keep Off Topic discussions to a minimum Add OT to the topic if going OT.
- Be polite...don't shout, swear, flame or make any derogatory comments.
- Please conduct personal discussions off the list.
When you post
- Please do not autoresponders use them. You will be removed from the list if you do.
- Stay on the relevant subject and keep accurate. That way you get better replies.
- Make your question as clear and as short as possible. Only include relevant code or debug info. One question per post.
- Use plain text mail only.
- Do not send attachments to the list. Add the elsewhere online or send it privately.
- Please remove all the unwanted junk from your posts and replies.
- Please only bottom quote and only use the relevenat piece.
- Unless the thread is very complicated, or has a lot of points, don't interweave your replies with the quoted text (e.g. quote | reply | quote | reply etc.)...this makes managing the thread in the archive very difficult.
- Do not hijack posts. Start a new thread. It may stop a good answer from being made to a question.
- The developers are very busy so please ensure your ask your questions to the mailing list before mailing developers.
After you post
- Make sure to post your answer if you reach it before other list members. One day someone might just do this for a question you need answered!
- Make an FAQ or HOWTO from the threads you answer to help others even more.
- Make sure you read the replies, and try the solutions, before you post again.
Final points
- None of the Freeway lists are moderated. They are not read and vetted before being forwarded to all list members. For this reason, read your post carefully before you hit "send".
- The Mailing lists will become a valuable archive. Please think before writing, and keep in mind the future value of your question or answer.
Thanks for helping to make the lists become even more effective resources.
