What is the Forum Points system?

In the Freeway forums, member status is built on points-based feedback. The original poster can rate from 1-10 other members’ responses to their questions. The better the response, the higher the score. This is how the Freeway Forums turns the rewards process over to the community. Each response to a question can receive a feedback rating of its success in answering the original poster’s problems.

How Do I assign points?

Only the question poster can assign points. When you are logged in and looking at your own post, you will see a Score "rainbow"” image link. Follow the link to add a score to a response. You can assign scores to more than one response to your post.

What does "Score: 0” next to a post reply mean?

This means the original poster has not rated that response. If you are the original poster and are logged in, you will see a Rate Post link instead. Every response to your post deserves recognition for the effort another user has made to try to help you.

How do I earn points in the Freeway Forums?

Earning points is simply a matter of responding helpfully in the forums to other users’ questions and problems. The original poster rates the question solutions using a point scale of 1-10. The better the response, the higher the points. Only the original poster can rate responses to their post. The more questions you answer, the more points you'll be eligible to earn. Your status will grow amongst your peers.

What are the "status levels" and icons?

Each forums member can earn community status by gaining points for helping other users. Points are awarded to valuable replies. There are several points status levels you can achieve. When you reach the level of points associated with a status level, your icon will change. The greater number of points you earn for responses, the higher status you earn in the community.

Are there other levels of status I can earn in the community?

As you earn more points you can move up the ranks of the Top Members. We recognise great posters with status levels:
• Wizard (2500 points)
• Guru (1000 points)
• Pro (500 points)
• Graduate (250 points)

Help out other forum members are you might get to Wizard status!

How do I track the points I earn?

Your forum profile displays the points you have earned. All forums users can see how many points you have earned. This gives you the chance to become recognized as an expert in your area.

How many points should I give to responses?

If you believe a response to your post is eligible for points, you can score it between 1 - 10. Don’t worry about running out of points. You will always be able to score deserving responses highly. Please carefully assign points based on the merit of the response. Here is a guide:

N/A: The answer was simply a point of clarification to my original question
1-3: Thanks but it wasn’t really the answer.
4- 7: I still need help. This is only a partial solution.
8-10: Thanks! You have solved my problem.

You do not have to score responses to your posts but it is a good way to recognize the help others are providing. We strongly to recommend you make it part of how you use the forums.

Are the points redeemable?

Not directly, but you will get a warm inner glow knowing you are helping out other Freeway users and building the community. Developers with high points values who are also providers of Freeway software services will in future be able to use that as evidence of their project participation towards Approved Service Provider status.
