Downloading and copying installation files

The first step of the installation is downloading the installation files from the Freeway website: http://www.openfreeway.org/download.html.

The download page offers the installation files in two formats (tar.gz and zip):

freeway_1_4_2_197.tar.gz – click on any of the 3 mirror links to download installation files in gz.tar format
freeway_1_4_2_197.zip – click on any of the 3 mirror links to download installation files in gz.tar format

Once you click on any of the mirror links, the download dialog window will be displayed.

Click OK and proceed to choosing the location for downloading the file. Once the installation package has been downloaded to your PC you can either:

Extract the archive and move the contents of the “freeway” folder to your server
Move the file and extract the archive directly on your server

Important note:

The location you choose for placing the installation file decides the URL you will use for starting the installation procedure:

e.g. www.yourserver.com/install if you move the files to the root directory
or www.yourserver.com/folder_name/install in case you have placed the files to any other subdirectory

This location will also determine the URL for accessing both front end and back end of your Freeway application

e.g. www.yourserver/admin/ in case you have installed the application to the root directory
or www.yourserver.com/folder_name/admin in case you have installed to any other subdirectory
